Unforgettable films from 50 years ago
For Hindi cinema, the Seventies were a particularly rich era, with a wide variety of films being made. Films released in 1973 turn 50 this year, and some of them remain memorable, either because of new stars, music or interesting subjects. The list of ten does not comprise the biggest successes of the year—does anyone remember Yash Chopra’s Daag or Manmohan Desai’s Aa Gale Lag Ja with any fondness? Jugnu, Loafer, Kahaani Kismat Ki, maybe, because of Dharmendra, but they were formula commercial films.
